Selling the SVX :-(
The time has come to part ways with my beloved Subaru SVX. This was my "wow, cool" dream car when I graduated college in 1992 -- boxer engine, 4 wheel drive, and would you just look at those windows? -- but it stickered for almost $30,000 new at the time. So like any sensible Chinese American kid, I bought a $17,000 Honda Prelude instead.
It was probably a good thing, too, because Lucy thought the car was ugly and that she never would've dated anyone driving it.
I finally got around to buying one when I came back from Japan in 2002. Sucker!
It's a well-maintained 1995 model. For this model year, 1400 units were imported into the U.S. As a point of reference, Toyota sold 1200 Camrys *per day* in 2003. I'm sure the R&D costs per car is staggering on these things.
Reason for sale: Making room for a boxer engine... 4 wheel drive... convertible. Doesn't have the amazingly cool windows though.
Here's the "For Sale" page if you're looking for an affortable, but *very* distinctive ride.
